McCall-Thomas Engineering Company is seeking a full-time Underground Drop Installer to work on client projects in NC and SC. Some travel will be required. Current project work is in the Aiken, SC area.

McCall-Thomas Engineering is a multi-faceted engineering firm housing multiple divisions including the Communications Engineering Division, the Electrical Engineering Division, the Electric Utility Service Division, the Electric Field Operations & UAS, as well as the McT Learning Center and Print Services.
As a McCall-Thomas Underground Drop Installer, you will be joining a team of dedicated individuals committed to our mission of providing quality solutions and services to each of our clients. The primary responsibilities for this role will require:
- Talking to homeowner and verifying path for installation
- May be boring driveways and sidewalks to get conduit placed
- Installing Fiber Optic NID
- Installing fiber through conduit from client location up to the side of home
- Installing and coupling conduit from existing conduit to NID
- Testing installed drop
- Digging to install, repair, re-install damaged conduit/fiber or customer-owned private utilities
- Restoring trench and sod to acceptable standard
What Will You Need (required):

Eligibility to work in the US without sponsorship is required

Valid Driver's License required
- HS diploma or GED is required

Must have 2+ years’ experience in underground placement work
- Location experience a plus
- Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks, hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
- Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
Physical Requirements for this position:
- Ability to perform the job duties above for at least 8 hours per day 5 days per week. May be required to work over-time, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies or on-call
- Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs. regularly
- Employee may be exposed to dust or fumes
- Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding, or stooping while on shift
- Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses and a hardhat

Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which can include but are not limited to extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow, sleet, and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
McCall-Thomas Engineering has contracts with several utilities in neighboring states to provide storm damage assessment support in the event of severe weather. Our Electric division employees are required to be available to travel for our Storm Damage Assessment response team when called, either as a Driver or as an Assessor. Details will be discussed in more detail in an interview.
