Base salary will be in the range $130,046.60 - $137,525.81 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 9)

About This Opportunity
As Senior Structural Engineer, you will oversee campus infrastructure planning and engineering system upgrades across the University. This role involves managing strategic asset lifecycles, planning projects, leading engineering system upgrades, and ensuring safety compliance. You will guide a high-performing team, coordinate with stakeholders, and maintain standards to optimise campus infrastructure.
Key responsibilities will include:
Oversee strategic asset management, including updates to the Strategic Asset Management Plan (SAMP) and lifecycle management for infrastructure stability and availability.
Plan and execute structural asset replacement projects, including cost assessments, project scoping, and compliance with standards and regulations.
Lead infrastructure planning for engineering systems, guiding team development and performance through clear objectives, training, and continuous improvement.
Provide technical expertise, create design standards, coordinate asset replacement, and manage project performance and budgets.
Engage with stakeholders, including government and external partners, to address infrastructure needs, support capital works, and improve university processes and standards.

About You
The successful candidate will be a Registered Professional Engineer in Queensland (RPEQ), qualified to provide actionable, expert advice to enhance UQ's long-term asset management.
Essential
Qualifications and training equivalent to a postgraduate qualification in structural engineering and extensive relevant experience in the engineering discipline; or extensive management experience and proven management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
Extensive post-qualification experience in the design, installation operation, maintenance, of Structural infrastructure services in the building and construction industry.
Demonstrable experience in strategic asset management of engineering infrastructure with the ability to: forecast utilization; plan for lifecycle replacement/augmentation and determine a program of work.
Demonstrable knowledge of engineering systems at subject matter expert level with the ability to prepare briefs, carry out design review, construction inspections and problem solve issues that arise.
Extensive practical knowledge, understanding and application of relevant Workplace Health and Safety legislation.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to explain/present complex information, influence others, consult and coordinate across multiple groups.
Proven financial planning and management skills with the ability to prepare, monitor and manage budgets.
Proven ability to work autonomously, to show initiative, be proactive, willing to work flexibly, prioritise work under pressure plus being able to work in a team to form strong working relationships with the P&F Sections and with internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
Professional membership and/or registration of an appropriate professional body/board (e.g. Engineers Australia, BPEQ).
