About the Role: We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Estimator to join our team at our head office in Carole Park. This is one of the company’s most critical roles, responsible for ensuring the accuracy and competitiveness of our tenders and bids.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review tenders to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify and assess scope, contract, and commercial risks.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and negotiate effectively.
  • Develop first principal estimates for workshop and construction projects.
  • Stay current with industry trends and new design and construction technologies.
  • Conduct site inspections and issue requests for quotations and tenders.
  • Ensure quality, safety, and environmental requirements are met in tender submissions.
  • Perform commercial and financial risk assessments for tenders and projects.
  • Lead tender review meetings with peers and senior management.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of tenders.
  • Ensure tender deadlines are met and continuously improve the tender process.
  • Analyse lost bids and completed projects to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Participate in lessons learned and incorporate feedback for future estimates and tenders.
  • Coordinate and arrange for contract exchanges once tenders are successful.
  • Effectively hand over tenders to the project execution team.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Estimator in Structural, Mechanical, and Piping (SMP) projects, specifically within the oil and gas, resources, and infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong costing, estimating, and analytical skills.
  • Experience in the steel manufacturing industry.
  • Proficient in planning, organizing, and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Clear understanding of Australian Codes and Standards, OH&S Codes, and standards.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing work environment and embrace new processes.
  • Experience with estimating or cost planning software (experience with Expert Estimator or Candy is an advantage).
  • Self-motivated, able to work autonomously, and perform well under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
