PROJECT ENGINEER (Rail)

ABOUT US

HASLIN is a leading civil construction firm, creating a legacy of exemplary and innovative infrastructure.

We currently have a vacancy for a Project Engineer to join a high performing teams responsible for the delivery of a package of accessibility upgrades at a suburban Sydney train station as part of TfNSW's Safe Accessible Transport program.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Assist in managing all stages of the project from award of contract through to design, construction and commissioning. The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Assist project manager/senior project engineer with obtaining sub-contractor pricing for works.

• Review subcontract submissions, correspondence and drawings.

• Transfer the interface information to engineer team, site manager and subcontractors in a timely manner.

• Review and organise materials procurement and ensuring budget constraints are met.

• Receive materials, store materials, collect documentation and issue materials and required documentation to installation subcontractors as and when required.

• Compare sub-contractor submissions on spreadsheet and submit to project manager for final review.

• Prepare programs as required by project manager.

• Assist and liaise with the senior project engineer and to fill in for that role as and when required.

• Liaise with subcontractors, site manager and project engineer to ensure coordination of works undertaken by different subcontractors.

• Ensure Safety, Environmental and Quality compliance (SEQ).

• Ensure all subcontractors provide SWMS before starting work.

• Ensure SWMS are received, reviewed and response provided before starting work.

• Ensure Inspection & Test Plans (ITP’s) are prepared and implemented for all critical components of work.

• Obtain a thorough understanding of Haslin Constructions internal processes, procedures and systems.

• Implement Haslin’s Safety, Environmental and Quality system requirements as appropriate. Record and file all documentation, ITP checks as required.

• Maintain records as necessary to ensure contractual compliance and smooth operation of the project.

• Maintain engineering document controls (ITPs) for the project

WHO YOU ARE

To be successful in this role you will possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (either degree or Diploma/Advanced Diploma)
  • Prior heavy rail project experience essential
  • Experience in construction processes
  • What's most important to us is your attitude, commitment, work ethic and ability to integrate into our work culture
  • Strong team focus, consultation, communication and leadership skills
  • Understanding of WHS legislation compliance and management systems
  • Knowledge of quality management systems ISO 9001 and experience managing quality assurance
  • Electronic data management and other relevant computer skills
