Job Description

The Project

ACCIONA has been selected to deliver Western Harbour Tunnel – Stage 2, Sydney’s third harbour crossing. The new Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) will connect to WestConnex at the Rozelle Interchange, cross underneath Sydney Harbour between Birchgrove and Waverton, and connect with the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney.

Project scope includes:

  • Construction of approximately 4.8 kilometres of mainline tunnels with three lanes in each direction
  • Civil, Mechanical and Electrical fitout of Stage 1 and Stage 2 tunnels
  • Surface level work, including on and off ramps and tie-in work to the Warringah Freeway

In line with the above, ACCIONA is now looking for a Project Engineer (Logistics) to join the Western Harbour Tunnel Project. As the Project Engineer, you will oversee and manage tunnel logistics, interface with different teams (civil out, M&E, etc.), ventilation (set up), design coordination, services, pavement construction, and Bull Gang supervision. The role will be based out of our Glebe Island site once established.

Specific Tasks Include

  • The ability to manage work and performance of teams and subcontractors to achieve outcomes.
  • Lead and motivate junior Engineers to meet or exceed all project targets and objectives.
  • Monitor and report on project delivery costs and develop strategies and recommendations for recovery actions in the event of overruns..
  • Ensure Safety, Environmental and Quality (and other) management systems and project plans are adequate, up to date, implemented and adhered to
  • Support the SPE to prepare, manage, and track budgets and financial reports.
  • Technical Documentation: Create and review project documentation, including Scopes of Work, registers, MDR's, ITP's, ITR, drawings, and reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards and regulations

Required Skills and Competencies

​Qualifications and Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
    • Proven track record of successfully delivering Civil packages for large infrastructure projects.
    • Prior experience managing complex logistics and interface with other teams
    • Experience mentoring junior Engineers
    • Strong knowledge of project management principles, tools, and techniques.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills
    • Prior experience working in tunnels would be advantageous
