HR Manager – Take the Lead in People & Culture at LA/CO

We are looking for an energetic and engaged leader to take the reins of our HR program and push us to the next level.

We’re LA/CO (Leisure Accommodation Collective) and we operate The Village and Drifter brands across Australia and New Zealand in the hostel/ accommodation/ travel experience market. We’re all about travel, adventure, and creating amazing experiences.

Reporting to the CFO, this role sits within the operational exec team playing a crucial role in creating an attractive, rewarding workplace that is seen as best in class.

We’ve laid the foundation but are still in the early stages of our business plan. You will have the opportunity to build the HR function across nine existing properties plus new ones on the horizon. You’ll take the lead on key projects, refine our HR strategy, and elevate our people processes as we continue to grow rapidly.

With tech and support in place to handle admin, you’ll focus on what truly matters - our people and their experience.

About you

  • You’re a natural communicator and strategic thinker – someone who is able to think operationally and identify opportunities for process improvement and employee wellbeing.
  • You are across the nuts and bolts of Workplace Health and Safety and can navigate conflict resolution, risk mitigation and local legislation to help provide a safe and smooth environment for our employees.
  • You’ll be expected to contribute to and elevate strategy, bringing your unique point of view to the table.
  • You are the go-to point of contact for our GMs and department directors for all things people and talent related
  • You will lead the up-skilling and continuous training for our senior staff.
  • You are confident and comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • You’ll bring guidance and a wealth of knowledge to our talent recruitment and retention goals.
