Overview
This hands-on position gets involved in all facets of daily livestock and farm operations. Team work is essential in delivering operational requirements of the farm in an environment where exemplary workplace health and safety culture is embraced.
Key Responsibilities
- Animal husbandry including feeding, animal health and stock coordination to maintain optimum stock welfare.
- Undertake farm operations under the direction of department manager as required.
- Operation of farm machinery including but not limited to loaders, JCB telehandler, tractors and forklifts.
- General farm repairs and maintenance and farm development including but not exclusively fencing, water reticulation systems and general planting.
- Record keeping including stock performance and live weights, animal diagnostics and stock tallies.
- Demonstrating a keen interest in the commercial outcomes of livestock operations and help drive efficiencies to enhance livestock financial performance. Examples may include being organised, improving animal health to reduce deaths, joining timeliness and performance, maintaining meticulously clean yards and surroundings.
- Consistent fresh water maintenance including trough cleanliness.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance on plant and equipment.
- Contribute to staff and safety meetings as required including toolbox meetings.
- Take responsibility for professional development and attend field days, workshops and other relevant training as agreed and make sure training records are maintained.
- Undertake all general farm duties including but not limited to potato and broadacre cropping operations to ensure all farm operations have appropriate back-up and coverage across the team.
- Any other duties as reasonably requested by management.
