Role and Responsibilities


A foreman must know the job inside and out, including prints, spec book, change orders, and paperwork. They must stay organized and most importantly, make sure the job is safe and OSHA compliant. Other duties may include:

  • Weekly review of entire pulse of project.
  • Complete Jobsite Punchlist Checklist at the end of phase and at the end of the job (form provided and will be in job file box).
  • Review Owner’s needs and confirm manpower.
  • Complete all paperwork
  • Keep at job site until requested or at end of job: scope of work, material requisitions, daily log book, daily job checklist, daily safety checklist, safety report card, jobsite orientation form, meeting minutes, purchase orders, repair tags, specifications, jobsite punchlist checklist
  • Submit to office weekly: weekly progress reports, time sheets, weekly expenditures, time off requests, toolbox talks, packing slips, shipping slips (trucking) attached to applicable packing slips, extra work authorization, RFI’s, subcontractor time sheets
  • Complete daily revisions of prints in red pen or marker; Keep one set of clean prints for as-builts to mark.
  • Plan out what initial needs, larger package needs, and time frames for release.
  • Plan Arrow owned and leased equipment needs and time frame for these needs.
  • Monitor and time work performed by subcontractors to Arrow.
  • Evaluate time management of project; Utilize the To Do list.
  • Perform safety checks (i.e. Temporary wiring GFI must be checked on a weekly basis; Open live panels must be covered; mark circuits on all panels; lockout/tagout procedures must be followed).
  • Review Toolbox Talks with group Monday at start of day, each person must sign and return to office.
  • Ensure hard hats, safety glasses and ear protection is worn when/where required.
  • Ensure subcontractors comply with OSHA and safety meetings/practices.
  • Must know the release dates of all different packets (what you’ve received vs. what is outstanding).
  • Responsible for knowing the balance on their jobs Purchase Orders.
  • Communicate with Project Coordinator as needed regarding shipments, etc.
  • Responsible for knowing the amount of manpower needed for the job two (2) weeks in advance.
  • Review all time sheets for work on the job.
  • Handle employee concerns, attendance, work habits, etc.; Document positive and negative performance and work ethic to provide continuous feedback.
  • Build trust with GC/Owner and other trades by communicating, getting work done, good housekeeping, and having the job coordinated properly.
  • Responsible for good housekeeping of the job site; Clean up throughout the day and at the end of the day.
  • Other additional related tasks and duties as needed.


Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent;
Hold a Journeymen’s card (completed 4 years of Apprenticeship) or equivalent in years of experience; Minimum of OSHA 30 completed.


Work Environment:
This job operates in a field environment. Electricians may be involved in construction or maintenance usually work a 40-hour, five-day week plus overtime when required. Working conditions can change dramatically from one job to another, varying from indoors in clean conditions to outdoors on scaffolding, and to confined and restricted locations. May require working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions; exposure to contaminants and exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.


Physical Demands:
This is largely an active role. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials; Requires repetitive movement; climbing ladders, scaffolds, or poles; standing, walking and running; using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls; and bending or twisting.


Preferred Skills:
First Aid/CPR/AED, Arc Flash, Confined Spaces, Fork Lift, Medium/High Voltage
Excellent communication skills, Technical Management, Basic Safety, Quality Focus, Ability to use basic Microsoft programs and email, Resource and Time Management, Knowledgeable in materials, methods and tools.
