Civil Engineer - Gold Coast

We are seeking Civil Engineer to join our Queensland team. This role provides an opportunity to work autonomously and be supported by the technical and project management experience of our Senior and Principal Engineers. The opportunity will be suited to those who have had relevant experience in Civil Engineering for roads and transport projects, stormwater drainage, bulk earthworks and civil infrastructure on local council or urban development projects and are looking to take the next step in developing their career in project delivery, client experience and project management.

Our ideal candidates would have 5 to 10 years’ experience in civil engineering, be motivated to advance in both technical and external design team facing project roles, with a positive attitude to fit in with our supportive culture.

About the role:

You will be responsible for:

• Undertaking civil engineering design delivery and management on projects including transport infrastructure and road design, stormwater drainage, earthworks and water quality across a broad spectrum of projects.
• Managing design of small to medium sized projects and raising critical or complex design issues to senior/principal engineers.
• Coordination with Tonkin’s interdisciplinary team Australia-wide and architects, external consultants, contractors, and clients.
• Maintaining client relationships on the projects you work on
• Complying with our quality, WHS and other systems

You will be working towards (or have already commenced):

• Leading projects and preparing fee proposals
• Developing client relationships
• Maintaining an awareness of innovations and changes to regulations in the industry
• Identifying and assessing project risks and communicating these to the team
• Having an encouraging attitude towards supporting members of the team as well as the drive to grow your career

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will ideally possess:

• 5-10 years Civil Engineering experience
• Located preferably in the Gold Coast, required to live in SEQ
• RPEQ (achieved or working towards)
• Working knowledge of project management, process improvement techniques and tools
• Demonstrated understanding and application of relevant Australian and industry standards and legislation.
