Job Description:  We are seeking a Chemist to help Locus Mining develop the next generation of bio-

surfactant based products through innovative product development and application testing. Our

products will be used for flotation, leaching, filtration, dust control, and more! Located in our

Montgomery, TX laboratory, this important role for the future success of Locus Mining will report

directly to the Director of R&D and Metallurgy.

Key responsibilities are as follows:
  • Independently conduct experiments to develop and execute projects for new products, formulations, method development, or expanded application uses.
  • Actively contribute to all ongoing projects for lab, field validation and commercialization.
  • Raw materials and product selection, testing and qualification.
  • Continuous product improvement based on customer and internal feedback.
  • Develop new mining applications for Locus’s unique biosurfactants and other bio-based materials.
  • Run independently analytical equipment, including XRF, particle size analyzer, goniometer (contact angle) foam analyzer, others.
  • Support business development strategy and growth by building relationships with the internal and external R&D and sales parties.
  • Execute the defined intellectual property strategy associated with new technology development and ensure that new product and technology developments are unique in nature and patentable.
  • Support the preparation of Mining & Mineral Processing related patent applications.
  • Develop and follow SOP’s and protocols to maintain best industry practice and product quality.
  • Participate in safety audits and comply with safety following Locus safety protocols.

Qualifications & Requirements:

·       Degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, mining engineering, material science or similar.

·       1+ years experience working in an application or R&D lab, advantageous but not a requirement.

·       Travel to customer sites when needed, up to 20%.
