The Railroad Track Inspector performs detailed inspections of railroad tracks and related components to ensure that they meet safety and operational standards. The role involves identifying defects, performing minor repairs, and ensuring compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
• Track Inspections: Conduct routine and scheduled inspections of railroad tracks, switches, turnouts, and other track infrastructure to ensure they are in good working condition.
• Defect Identification: Identify and document track defects such as rail wear, broken ties, loose bolts, and improper alignments.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure that all inspected tracks are compliant with FRA regulations, industry standards, and company safety policies.
• Minor Repairs: Perform minor track maintenance and repairs when necessary, such as tightening bolts or replacing broken fasteners.
• Reporting: Create detailed reports of inspection results, noting defects and repairs needed, and submit these to the Track Supervisor or Operations Manager.
• Collaboration: Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to schedule track repairs or replacements.
• Emergency Inspections: Conduct emergency inspections in response to accidents, derailments, or severe weather conditions to assess track damage.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and maintenance activities, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date.
• Equipment Use: Operate and maintain inspection equipment such as track gauges, measuring devices, and hand tools.
• Safety Audits: Participate in safety audits and provide recommendations for improvements in track safety protocols.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or technical degree in a related field is preferred.
• Experience in railroad track maintenance, inspection, or a related field.
• Knowledge of FRA track safety standards and industry regulations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify safety hazards and defects.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents related to track maintenance.
• Physical ability to walk, lift, and work in varying weather conditions.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Certification in FRA Track Safety Standards preferred.

Work Environment:
• The position involves outdoor work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
• May require travel.
• The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7 am to 3 pm with occasional weekends as needed.
