About the Role


BMA Engineering AMOP team is currently recruiting for various Specialist Engineer/ project manager roles. As a specialist project manager you will report to the Engineering Lead and be accountable for delivering projects end to end, from initiation to execution.

In this role you will be delivering exciting projects in a variety of disciplines, including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Process Control. These projects are key to sustaining our mine sites, examples include: technology improvements to the coal processing plant, introduction of additional monitoring devices to enhance safety, modifications to our Tailings Dams design to comply with latest standards, among others.  Your project management skills will play a pivotal role in optimizing processes, managing budget & schedule, and engaging stakeholders in multiple sites.

This role would be based in Brisbane, site travel required regularly to Moranbah or Mackay.

Key responsibilities of the role include: 
 

  • Manage projects from front end loading to execution.
  • Follow BHP Small Project Management Framework ensuring projects are delivered to scope, budget, schedule and quality requirements.
  • Effectively manage and coordinates project resources – internal and external - to achieve project outcomes.
  • Promote, encourage and adopt BMA’s safety culture within the team.
  • Lead, monitor and review HSE compliance and performance improvement initiatives and interventions as required through Field Leadership activities.
  • Manage project budget, forecast and actuals in line with capital planning cycle and reporting routines.
  • Manage project schedule, in line with project delivery targets.
  • Identify and addresses potential risks and opportunities for value creation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Listen and communicate clearly to influence stakeholders (verbally and in writing).
  • Actively keep team members and stakeholders informed of work activities and outcomes.

About You


You will be an individual who is self-motivated and takes accountability for delivering your project scope. You will foster strong working relationships and will have the opportunity to utilise your advanced engagement and collaboration skills in managing stakeholder relationships to achieve project outcomes. You will have excellent analytical and interpersonal skills and a high standard of oral and written communication skills. You will promote the highest standards of safety, while delivering quality outcomes on time and on budget.

Your experience includes: 
 

  • Qualification in Engineering – Civil (dams), Electrical, Mechanical, process control disciplines – with strong project management experience.
  • Knowledge of mining processes or previous exposure to a mining environment highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in similar roles such as, project engineer, project manager, project lead highly desirable .
  • Demonstrated people engagement skills and the ability foster a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing contractors.
  • Experience in applying your strengths in analysis and problem solving to develop business solutions and provide opportunities for improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and effectively manage multiple deliverables across stakeholders.
  • Ability to negotiate with stakeholders at different levels and influence outcomes.
  • Team player with highly effective communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
