ARG Industrial is seeking a Shop Foreman in our Anchorage, AK branch. In this role, you'll work cooperatively with branch management to lead our warehouse and shop departments and ensure smooth operations. We are seeking a safety-minded candidate who demonstrates strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Branch Manager, the Shop Foreman is responsible for all aspects of the warehouse and shop departments, providing leadership, support, and oversight. The Shop Foreman exercises considerable independent judgment in solving work-related problems, enforce safety protocols and procedures, and make decisions to ensure smooth operations. The Shop Foreman sets the example, implements process improvements, and coaches the team to achieve optimal performance.


Essential Functions

  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with the team and customers.
  • Oversee the execution of work, ensuring high quality and efficient production.
  • Manage and guide the proper use of tools and equipment to maintain optimal performance.
  • Ensure completion of daily equipment maintenance, cleaning, maintenance logs, and safety checks.
  • Supervise the duties of warehouse employees, provide appropriate guidance.
  • Coordinate with Assistant Manager and Branch Manager to communicate status updates and address any concerns.
  • Organize and plan shop pick tickets to ensure the workload is distributed effectively.
  • Build a positive company image by maintaining professional communication and a professional appearance.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing workflow standards and safety procedures.
  • Stay updated with professional and technical knowledge through continued training and professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to operate computer systems and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach to work effectively within warehouse.
  • Occasionally climb stairs.
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying objects (up to 50 pounds).
  • Adherence to safety protocols.
  • Working in moderately noisy environments, normal for warehouse environments, or industrial settings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Successfully pass drug test screenings throughout employment.
  • Strong leadership abilities and problem-solving skills to handle work-related challenges.
  • Basic computer skills for inventory management and communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective team interactions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use.

Education

High school diploma, or equivalent evidence of educational proficiency at the high school level.


Experience

Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a supervisory role within a warehouse or shop environment is preferred.

Experience in coordinating resources, managing production, and enforcing safety procedures is preferred.
