About the role:

Economix are currently seeking an experienced Full-Time Heavy Vehicle Mechanic to join our dynamic, successful team based at Deer Park, VIC. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Mechanic is responsible for ongoing repairs and maintenance of the Economix fleet. The role will consist of scheduled and priority repairs along with preventative maintenance schedules and annual roadworthy inspections.

Duties will include:

  • Participation in all toolbox meetings.
  • Work within workshop rules and regulations at all times.
  • Liaising with direct managers, supervisors and managers daily.
  • Thoroughly diagnose and repair faults.
  • Service and maintain equipment of truck fleet.
  • Work to tight schedules whilst maintaining the highest standards.
  • Adopt and continue with Lean practices to ensure quality and cost
    efficiency with all repairs and maintenance.
  • Assist with planning and maintaining service schedules.
  • Co ordinating with suppliers sourcing parts on quality and best price.
  • Maintaining company tools and equipment.
  • Ownership of major repairs, working efficiently while maintaining a clean
    and safe environment.
  • Challenge yourself with a mindset of best practice and continuous
    improvement.
  • Maintaining professional and clear communication with all company
    staff.

Skills and experience:

  • Current drivers’ license. HR desirable
  • Full Mechanic qualifications 
  • Truck servicing ability
  • Experience with Diagnosing and repairing faults and defects in vehicles
  • The ability to follow direction & work autonomously
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Physically fit for heavy work
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
