ST. CROIX CONSTRUCTION, INC. is looking for a skilled Concrete Foreman to oversee and manage on-site operations for our construction projects. This role requires a hands-on leader who can coordinate daily tasks, enforce safety protocols, and ensure high-quality workmanship. As a key on-site representative, the Concrete Foreman is responsible for communicating with the General Contractor or Owner and maintaining a productive and safe work environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Safety:
    • Enforce and promote a strong safety culture on-site.
    • Conduct daily safety and hazard assessments to ensure compliance with OHSA regulations.
    • Communicate and implement company safety policies and procedures.
    • Lead safety meetings, complete incident reports, and ensure all equipment and vehicle checks are performed.
    • Report accidents and safety incidents to the General Foreman and Project Manager immediately.
  • Leadership & Supervision:
    • Coordinate and supervise daily construction activities, assigning tasks to crew members based on project needs.
    • Conduct daily morning briefings to outline tasks and expectations for the day.
    • Monitor crew performance, ensuring productivity and compliance with project policies and procedures.
    • Address and resolve issues among crew members and consult with the General Foreman on disciplinary actions if needed.
    • Maintain a positive work environment by demonstrating professionalism and commitment to company values.
  • Employee Relations:
    • Build and maintain a cohesive team culture, promoting teamwork and effective communication.
    • Identify crew members' skills and determine the best roles for each team member.
    • Assist in training crew members on best practices and provide mentorship and guidance.
    • Collaborate with management on employee promotions, demotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Planning & Scheduling:
    • Review and understand all project documents, including construction drawings, rebar shop drawings, underground sleeve coordination drawings, and material schedules.
    • Collaborate with the General Foreman and Project Manager to develop and maintain the construction schedule.
    • Organize and manage manpower, ensuring adequate crew size and efficient use of resources.
    • Plan and schedule concrete pours, material deliveries, and equipment needs to align with project timelines.
    • Maintain a clean and organized job site, ensuring all materials and equipment are properly stored and protected.
  • Quality Control:
    • Oversee the execution of work to ensure it meets company standards and project specifications.
    • Conduct regular inspections of rebar, formwork, concrete placement, and other construction elements to verify accuracy and quality.
    • Ensure all formwork is properly braced, aligned, and secured before concrete placement.
    • Monitor concrete placement techniques, including proper vibration and finishing, to achieve the desired results.
    • Manage the stripping and cleaning of formwork, ensuring panels and tools are properly maintained and stored.
  • Layout:
    • Verify all layout work, including formwork, openings, rebar placement, door openings, and anchor bolt locations, to ensure accuracy.
    • Coordinate with the General Contractor or survey team for building layout and alignment.
  • Administration:
    • Prepare and maintain daily reports, timekeeping records, and safety documentation.
    • Report any worker violations or safety incidents and participate in personnel decisions such as hiring, promotions, and terminations.
    • Conduct safety meetings and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate should possess:
  • Proven experience as a Concrete Foreman or similar role in construction.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete construction practices, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites as required.

Required Tools:
  • Must have all necessary tools to perform the scope of work, including a hammer, tape measure, hard hat, steel toe work shoes, eye protection, hearing protection, dust mask, and gloves.
